Ingredients:

  • 2 pkgs. active dry yeast
  • ½ cup lukewarm water
  • 2 cups milk, scalded
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 egg
  • 7 cups flour

    Class 7 — White bread

     

    Directions:

    Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Add sugar, salt, margarine and oil to the scalded milk. Let cool to lukewarm. Add egg. Stir in yeast mixture. Add 5 cups flour while mixing well. When dough starts to pull away from sides of bowl, place on floured surface and knead until smooth, adding flour as needed. Place in greased bowl, turning to grease surface. Cover and let rise to double in size. Punch dough down. Let rise again until doubled in size. Roll on floured surface. Shape into 2 loaves. Place in lightly greased loaf pans. Cover, let rise until doubled in size. Bake at 350ºF for 25 min. Brush with butter.
