Ingredients:

  • Dough for a two-crust pie. See recipe in directions.
  • 3/4 to 1 cup sugar (use 1 cup if apples are tart)
  • 3-4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1⁄2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 6 cups sliced apples (Pared & cored)

    Directions:

    Preheat oven 350º.

    Divide dough into two equal pieces. On lightly floured surface, roll out dough in circle 1″ larger than pie pan, repeat with second piece. Lightly press one into 9″pie plate, lightly moisten edge with water or egg wash (1 egg and 2 tablespoons of water, mixed).

    Mix sugar, flour, salt and cinnamon together. Sprinkle 3 tablespoons into bottom crust. In large mixing bowl, mix sugar flour mixture with apples. Pour apple mixture into bottom crust, dot with butter. Place top pie crust on top, crimp edges to seal. Cut three or four slashes just through top crust so steam can escape. If using egg wash, brush over top of crust and sprinkle with sugar.

    Bake 40-45 minutes until crust is a golden brown. Remove from oven, place on wire rack to cool.
