Oklahoma wheat harvest making great strides over the past two days

June 11, 2025

Wheat harvest is now underway from the Oklahoma–Texas line all the way to the Oklahoma–Kansas border. In many regions, producers and crews are moving quickly across fields, while others continue to face delays due to wet ground and muddy conditions.

Test weights are ranging from 58 to 63 pounds per bushel across all reporting locations. Most wheat is still coming in at or above 60 pounds per bushel. However, some lower test weights have been seen in parts of southern Oklahoma along the Hwy. 281 corridor, where heavier rainfall impacted the crop. Several fields in this area have also been abandoned due to excessive flooding.

Yields across the state are generally ranging from the mid-30s to mid-50s, while producers following more intensive management practices are reporting yields in the mid-60s to low-80s. Statewide average protein is 11.1%.

Thanks to strong progress in parts of southwest, central and north-central Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Wheat Commission estimates the 2025 harvest is approximately 22 percent complete as of this report. The next harvest update will be published Monday, June 16.
